Biography

Born in north Chicago, Illinois, Jeff’s family packed up and moved to Dallas, Texas while he was an infant to escape the weather and pursue his father’s desire to own a beauty salon. Joined shortly thereafter by a sister, he spent the rest of his formative years in north Dallas.

While at North Texas State University majoring in Interior Design, with a minor in Real Estate, Jeff was inspired to go to architecture school. He transferred and received his Bachelors of Science in Architecture degree at the University of Texas at Arlington (class of 1985). He briefly considered following in his father’s footsteps and obtained his cosmetologist license and supported himself as a hair stylist while still in school. Just before he graduated he took a part-time position working with Mr. R.B. Ferrier F.A.I.A. who, at the time, was Assistant Dean of Architecture at UTA. Jeff’s skills as an architectural illustrator contributed to the success of the offices thus sealing his dream of being an architect.

Early in the 1990’s he was enticed by a job offer and moved to Hawaii where honed his skills at an architectural office and obtained his architectural license. In Hawaii he enjoyed many outdoor activities, but was most active with the Hawaii Harlequins Rugby Football Club where he was the president and tournament director for two years, and is still a member.

In 2000, he and his wife had their first child and they moved to San Diego to be closer to her family. A second child followed soon after. He has enjoyed working in many types of architectural fields including military, planning, residential and commercial projects.
